 The Irish premiere of the award winning film "Give Up Tomorrow" is being shown on Monday 7th November in the Triskel Arts Centre, Cork as part of the Cork Film Festival. There is a second screening on Friday 11th at the Gate Cinema, Cork. Below is the official press release and link to the movie trailer and website. New York, NY – For the first time, Irish audiences will have a chance to see one
of this year’s most critically-acclaimed and controversial films about the wrongful
conviction of an innocent man. Give Up Tomorrow, the award-winning feature
documentary that’s shocked audiences around the world and exposed the shaky
foundations of the Filipino justice system, will open at the Cork Film Festival. The
Irish premiere follows a string of successful showings where the documentary garnered multiple awards at prestigious festivals including Robert de Niro’s Tribeca Film Festival, the Sheffield Film Festival, Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival and others.

Give Up Tomorrow, co-produced by the BBC, tells the incredible true story of Paco Larrañaga accused, and eventually convicted, of the murder of two young
women in the Philippines in 1997. The case of Paco and the six others accused
of the murders was called the country’s “Trial Of The Century”.

Using never-before-seen archival footage and exclusive interviews, the
filmmakers followed the story for seven years taking the viewer inside the case
as it unfolds, beginning with Paco’s arrest, through the electrifying trial and
media frenzy surrounding it, and ultimately, to his imprisonment on death row in one of Manila's most notorious prisons. The film masterfully uncovers surreal layers of corruption and injustice, as well as the tender devotion of a mother
and father striving to rescue their son. The film also captures a remarkable turn
of events: Paco’s case eventually helped lead to the abolishment of the death
penalty in the Philippines.

The story is not over yet. Audiences will be stunned to learn Paco continues to
languish in prison.

Give Up Tomorrow director Michael Collins says, “We hope the people of Ireland will see this family’s struggle and be moved to act — to help free an
innocent man, and in the process, help free the people of the Philippines from the
shackles of a deeply flawed justice system.”

Canada’s Globe and Mail tells audience members to “prepare to be outraged” praising Give Up Tomorrow as “an exceptional film”. Variety writes, “Documentaries about abuses of justice abound, but few present complicated
events in so concrete, linear and compelling a fashion.” Yoko Ono calls the film, “a must see.”
